Dear Sennheiser community,
We are all currently feeling the effects of the rapid spread of the coronavirus – both in our private and professional lives. Unfortunately, in many countries it is not yet clear when we will be able to return to normality.
In this situation, the health and wellbeing of each and everybody is paramount. Therefore, we have taken various preventive measures and implemented them throughout the Sennheiser Group: We work from home as much as possible to protect our Sennheiser team and their families. Special protective measures and working models apply to everyone in our production or development areas. All of this is of course happening according to local regulations and safety protocols. To support global efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, we have also decided to temporarily close all Sennheiser stores worldwide.
Despite all the difficulties, we maintain operations and somehow this situation also binds us together even more closely with our colleagues all around the world. Because no matter where – at home office, in divided groups at the office or in separated shifts in our production – we continue to work on providing premium audio products and creating very special sound experiences. For you – wherever you are. You can still purchase our products through our online store at sennheiser.com. And we are there for you to answer your questions and support you whenever needed.

Sometimes, life takes an unexpected turn. This is also true for our anniversary year: Since the beginning of the year the corona virus has affected everyday life in more and more countries. For us this means: Instead of many happy meetings with you, our customers and the Sennheiser fans, trade shows and events were canceled, and we had to temporarily close our offices in China. Now, we are taking precautionary measures at our headquarters in Germany and further locations. But somehow this situation also binds us together closely with our colleagues all around the world. Because no matter where – at home office, in divided groups at the office or in separated shifts in our production – we still work on creating very special sound experiences and unique moments. This month in Sennheiser history – May:
In 2014, the 59th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, at B&W Hallerne, which originally was a shipyard and was broadcast live to approximately 125 million people in the Eurovision countries and Australia. For the world’s biggest live music contest, Sennheiser provided the D9000 system. This system was first used in Malmo during the ESC 2013, so it was the second time that the D9000 system covered the Eurovision Song Contest. Ninety-six channels of the digital wireless microphone system were deployed for the contest, the VIP area and the press center. Weeks before the live show, Sennheiser specialists started preparing the sound technology. During the second week of rehearsal, a loud “BANG” could be heard in the system. It turned out that the building was much more difficult for wireless microphones and monitoring systems than expected. As the walls and roof of the huge shipyard were made of metal and the floor was made of reinforced concrete, the metal hall caused reflections that partially ran over 300 metres and then hit the receiving antennas with a considerable delay as compared to the direct signal.
“Never before have I encountered such a huge amount of reflections and if somebody had told me that they knew of an arena that could affect RF transmission this much then I would never have believed it prior to this experience,“ continued Jonas Næsby, RF specialist with Sennheiser Nordic. The Sennheiser team in Copenhagen called the German development engineers in Germany for help, who proceeded quickly to Copenhagen for measuring. A software patch was prepared overnight and the local Sennheiser team was using the new firmware for the next rehearsal which worked flawlessly.
Backed by this technical expertise, all ESC shows went off without a hitch, and in the grand finale, Conchita Wurst, aka Tom Neuwirth, impressed both the judges and audiences with her Bond-esque “Rise like a Phoenix” and won the contest with 290 points. #Sennheiser75
